Cottage Windows

The traditional way of making hardwood window frames was to have the window fit flush with the frame itself. These flush cottage windows can be seen on many listed buildings and they really do look great and are in keeping with the buildings themselves. Flush Windows can also look great on modern minimalist style homes because they are simple and clutter free in design.

The original problem with this type of cottage window was that they could prove to be draughty and the inner frame could warp making the wood window look unsightly. This is no longer the case as improvements in the woods and the treatments available means that warping no longer occurs. These improvements also bring some of the unseen design features from our Storm-Proof Windows to give a traditional appearance with the benefits of Espagnolette locking, stainless friction hinges, and full weather proofing. The locking mechanism and sliding hinges also help to keep the opening frame square in the main frame. This proves that flush windows and cottage windows can maintain the look of the traditional windows whilst they have the added benefits of modern technology and energy efficiency.

Our Cottage Windows also open with an inward tilt with a very easy system that is in comparison with our sliding sash wood windows and is a nice design feature for your home.

As with our other windows including our sliding sash windows the Flush Windows that we create can be made to fit in with existing windows on listed buildings and you can choose between the single glazed and double glazed wooden windows depending on your homes requirements. They are individually made for you and your home so why shouldn’t you get the Hardwood Cottage Windows that you want!
